Technology Volunteers assist at the Ross-University Hills Branch Library.
The Denver Public Library is recruiting technology volunteers to join our team of skilled staff.
Technology Volunteers will work directly with the public sharing their smiles, knowledge, patience, and customer service skills.
|Duties:||Assist DPL customers with the uses of computers and other devices.|
Technical skills required: Microsoft Office any version (2007 preferred) - Creating resumes - Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox -Web applications including email, social networks, online forms and job applications - File management--saving to storage media including burning CDs and flash drives - Trouble shooting printing issues.
Preferred Technical skills: Gadget knowledge including cameras, eReaders, and phones - Music related devices including MP3 players - Understand technical and copyright issues. It would be awesome if you already know everything about everything, but it's not necessary. We do offer training to fill in the gaps for those things you'd like to learn.
TRAINING PROVIDED ON: Microsoft Office 2007 - Wireless connection - Technical setup of DPL computers - eReaders - De-escalation and customer service - Library/Computer policies.
|Qualifications:||Enjoy working in the evolving world of computer technology - Desire to teach - Ability to be persistent - Good people skills including patience, cultural sensitivity, establishing boundaries and mutual respect - Ability to learn new technology quickly, and feel comfortable trying new methods - Ability to troubleshoot, and experiment with trial and error - Ability to multi-task and prioritize customer requests.|
Successful completion of the background check, including criminal and/or library usage.
Successful completion of the shadowing process.
Six month commitment required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
